Heinrich Hoffmann (1885 – 1957) served as Adolf Hitler’s official photographer from when Hitler took control of the Nazi party in 1921 until his death in 1945. Hoffmann estimates he took over half a million photographs of Hitler over the course of his career. His portraits were the most significant source of Nazi propaganda materials published over the course of close to 25 years, everything from postcards, posters, magazines, postage stamps and picture books. About Hitler-Pics.com

Adolf Hitler in Heinrich Hoffmann’s garden at the confirmation (renewal of baptismal promises) of Heinrich Hoffmann Jr. on 29 March 1931.

I’m a hobbyist historian and amateur writer who thoroughly enjoys researching many different subjects, especially early 20th century world history. I’m certainly aware that having any kind of interest in the subject of Adolf Hitler in particular is contentious, but being as my infatuation with this particular historical figure began when I was only five years old will hopefully attest to the fact that my fascination certainly didn’t arise from any ill intent or support for any of his repulsive political and racial ideologies. I categorically denounce and reject all aspects of his abhorrent worldview and will not tolerate it being discussed or supported in any way on this platform.

I created this website only to begin the challenging process of trying to organize and archive the thousands of photos I’ve amassed over many years of both active research and idle web browsing. I discovered that in undertaking this project of grouping these photographs together that they began to tell a story and paint a bigger and richer picture of Hitler’s life as well as the people, places and events that surrounded him. I had come across so many incredibly interesting facts along the way that I thought other people with a similar interest in this individual and time period might enjoy discovering them as well. Even though that never came to be, I’m extremely grateful for the learning experience and the many hours of enjoyment this endeavor has brought to me.

I am most thankful for the three people that showed support and interest back in the early days of this project and followed so many of my posts, and I hope you will perhaps come back by here to enjoy it every now and again. The encouragement and camaraderie you granted me this year meant more than I can ever express as it got me through a very dark and difficult time in my life. I have often felt very alone and misunderstood in my unusual personal struggles that I was able to share, and I will always treasure the respite that I finally received from that burden.

I’m well aware that the subject of Adolf Hitler is certainly a topic that has had extensive and beyond exhaustive research coverage over an expanse of close to a century, and yet it seems that there is always something more out there to discover about this controversial historical figure. I have not found any other source or website that has attempted to group and organize Heinrich Hoffmann’s vast portfolio, especially so as to view his photographs in any kind of coherent context. Hopefully this attempt began to fill even a small part of that unfortunate void.

Please feel free to reach out to me at verboten.love@gmail.com with any suggestions or corrections for this site. Unfortunately I did encounter many errors and often conflicting information in regards to dates, people and places in many of these photographs but I try my very best to post only the most accurate information, and will rectify any mistakes that I have inadvertently posted. I also understand that Hoffmann’s photographs are still under copyright in Germany, but as I’m in the United States I believe they are now within the public domain here as well as in most other countries.

My Sincerest Apology

I also want to offer a public apology here to someone that I very unknowingly hurt or offended shortly before the New Year 2024. Please know that was NEVER my intent and I feel beyond terrible. I humbly implore you to forgive me in due time and perhaps let me know how I can properly rectify the situation. I will always cherish the brief time I was blessed enough to actually meet a kindred soul and I continue to grieve very deeply that I somehow sabotaged the relationship so quickly. Again I can never apologize enough for my ignorance and for the complete and utter lack of personal insight in my social interactions that unfortunately continues to allude me in this lifetime.

Credit for My Resources

Even though this website rarely gets much traffic I still want to give much delayed credit to the many sources for my enormous photograph collection that I have assembled on here. Unfortunately I have long since lost track of the original origin of many of these photos, especially the ones that came from auction sites, but the following websites are by far the best sources that I have found for discovering Hoffmann’s photos, and for obtaining the most accurate information for placing them into their proper context:
